Radiocast: Prescriptions - Play it Safe
Debra: This is Healthcare 411: Information for better health. October is
Talk about Prescriptions Month, and a good opportunity to check up on your
medications. Do you know what you’ve prescribed and how to take your medications
safely? If you need a cheat sheet, a tool from AHRQ can help. Dr. Sunil
Kripalani explains:
Dr. Kripalani: Well, the pill card is designed for people who have a hard
time keeping track of their medications. You can hang it on the refrigerator to
keep track of your medicines, keep it where you store your medications, and take
it with you to your doctor’s office. All of these things can help you easily
remember your medications on a daily basis.
Debra: To access the template to create the pill card on your home
computer, go to
ahrq.gov/qual/pillcard/pillcard.htm. Healthcare 411 is produced by AHRQ, the
Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, part of the U.S. Department of
Health and Human Services. I’m Debra James for Healthcare 411.
