Podcast: Web-based Decision Aid for Men with Prostate Cancer

Rand: From the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, I’m Rand Gardner with Healthcare 411. Information for better health.

For most men who have prostate cancer, the disease hasn’t spread beyond the prostate gland. If you are one of these men, you have more time to consider the different treatment options. And AHRQ has an online tool that can help.

More from AHRQ expert Dr. Bill Lawrence:

Dr. Lawrence: With AHRQ’s interactive decision aid, you can click through a series of easy-to-read screens to learn about what is called "clinically localized prostate cancer." You’ll learn about the various options for treating it, and the benefits and risks of each treatment. The aid helps you and your health care team make the best treatment decision, based on your priorities and circumstances. It also builds your own information summary that you can take to your next appointment.

Rand: To use AHRQ’s free web-based decision aid on prostate cancer, visit effectivehealthcare.ahrq.gov. Healthcare 411 is a production of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
