Lead Story: State Snapshots on Health Care Quality

Program Description:

This audio program features current news and information from the U.S. Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ).

Earlier this year the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality released its 2006 National Healthcare Quality Report and the National Healthcare Disparities Report. These reports gave the overall picture of health care quality in the nation.

  • This week’s News and Numbers shows that the rate of teenage and younger girls giving birth in U.S. hospitals dropped;
  • According to a recent AHRQ funded study and the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development, very small infants have a greater rate of survival in very busy neonatal intensive care units;
  • And AHRQ has released its new state snapshots on health care quality.
